Get this: The 24-banger mega-mui-multi-cineplex down the road is starting New Moon at 12:01 am on eight--count 'em, eight--screens. And (they've never done this before) they're going to follow those with 3:25 am showings on two screens. Here's the eerie part: ALL of the 12:01 am showings are sold out!
I was flabbergasted--until I looked at the other listings. New Moon is opening on 22 screens around town at 12:01 am and they are ALL sold out. ALL of them. Now I'm stunned. I guess. No Harry Potter movie has ever approached this level of hysteria. Brokeback Mountain sold out for about a week, but it was only showing on one screen.
Thirteen New Moon showings tomorrow are already sold out.
